  • Exercise, socialization, play, and positive conditioning are all important things that enrich dogs' lives.

At Your Dog's Best Friends we believe that while your best friend is in our care getting lots of exercise, socialization, and romping fun, our staff can do more than just watch over him or her. We believe that we can help you develop your dog's behavioral potential and help you raise a dog that is healthier, happier and more fun to live with.

We call our approach to cageless daycare, Positive Playcare. Positive Playcare is the fusion of the science of positive conditioning with the service of dog daycare. It is also our commitment to you and your dog to earn and maintain a relationship based on positive interactions.

We believe that a dog's time in our daycare gives Your Dog's Best Friends a unique opportunity to create a positive bond with your dog. Our constant positive interactions with the dogs build trust and affection which lead to respect and control. We feel that creating such a positive bond helps us set each dog up for success in our daycare and in their interactions with other dogs and people in their life in general. This bond also enables us to let them play more energetically while still maintaining the control we need to keep them safe.

  • Deciding where to board your dog can be a tough decision.

That's why Your Dog's Best FriendsSM has introduced Bedroom BoardingSM, a more natural, low-stress way to board your dog. We don't use cages, or stalls, or kennels. At night, your "best friend" sleeps with other dogs in a comfortable bedroom at the foot of the bed where a trained staff member spends the night.

We work hard to ensure that your best friends feels as much like being at home as we can make them. If a dog (or owner) expresses a preference for sleeping in a crate, one is provided.

Cageless boarding is provided in conjunction with Positive PlaycareSM, our new and positive approach to dog daycare. Your Dog's Best FriendsSM develops a positive obedience bond with every dog and relies on this bond to manage the care and play of the dogs. During the day, your "best friend" romps in our climate controlled 2,400 square foot gymnasium in the open company of the other dogs under the attentive management of our playcare staff.

Due to the inclusion of our Bedroom BoardersSM in our daytime Positive PlaycareSMprogram, we must require that all Bedroom BoardersSM complete our Admissions application and attend and successfully complete the Orientation Day process at least 2 days before the beginning of your dog's first overnight stay.

  • A Program for Dogs with Special Needs.

Do you worry about your dog? Do you know that your dog is incredibly lovable, but worry because you see them having bouts of anxiety or agitation/aggression or other emotional pain?

Help is right here. It is called Step-UP Socialization.

How do we know this? Because so many owners have come to us deeply concerned with the behavior of their dog. And because, through Step-UP Socialization, so many of those dogs have blossomed into happy members of our cageless community. They have then become better adjusted at home and in public.

Step-UP Socialization is a structured behavior-shaping program. It is customized to the needs of each individual dog. In this program we provide additional leadership, nurturing, and guided socialization that these dogs need to change and to heal.

In our program, anxious dogs acquire confidence that dispels anxiety. Dogs that trembled or hid, even peed, whenever they saw a stranger become confident and happy.

Dogs that appear aggressive learn socially acceptable ways to greet and play. Emotional pain is supplanted with trust. They give up counter-productive behaviors in order to focus on behaviors that win them playmates and friends.
